Painting Tales is a series of stories for children inspired by internationally renowned works of art. The stories are set alongside high definition digital images of paintings, and delivered as an app.
We are surrounded by such lively and vibrant imagery these days that the works of old masters struggle to attract our children’s attention. My stories bring new life to these masterpieces and in return the paintings bring all the value of a thousand words to my stories.
By combining story and image, the concept is designed to inspire young readers to develop an eye for reading paintings, and a thirst for the joys of reading – and perhaps, to encourage their own writing and artistic endeavours.
Unlike in a book, the image will remain in sight as the text pages are scrolled or turned. And also unlike in a book, the reader will be able to zoom in and out of the images to explore the detail of the paintings in all their glory. And also, unlike in a book, the user will be able to enjoy listening to audio versions of the stories.
The app is in development right now, please follow me on Twitter and like my Facebook page and I’ll keep you posted.
Thanks for visiting.
